1) Would prefer at least one theme available that was light colored background. The existing ones might look cool, but are too high contrast and tiresome on the eyes after long viewing. Keep the dark/orange as default if you're concerned about visually differentiating yourself from di.fm but offer a few lighter themes for logged in members. Personally, I think ah.fm does sufficient job of differentiating itself from di.fm in areas of substance.

2) I like the next 5. Last five doesn't mean much.

3) Flash seriously sucks. The eye candy Flash offers is a poor substitute for real content and for me the Flash stuff on ah.fm incessantly gets in my way. Moreover, is not w3c conformant. ah.fm should strive to adhere to the standards that enabled the web to evolve into the awesome thing that it is today and resist the encroachment of proprietary b.s. Fighting over the latter is, after all, what left the niche open for Berners-Lee. As an "old dog" whose watched the 'net evolve since the beginning, I urge you to give this issue serious consideration.

4) This one is so potentially broad that I'll have to give it some more thought, but I would like to note that voting might be cool at first blush, but in long run I think is detrimental. Music should be taken as an artistic expression, not a competition. The latter leads to "sporting event" mentatlities, wherein dj's become pitted against each other in some kind of contrived rivalries.

News is difficult to keep current, unless you're pulling from some kind of feed aggregator.

Reviews might be interesting if you have ah.fm staff you has the time and integrity to be objective, even if that means lukewarm reception of fellow ah.fm staff set.

Yeah I don't really think that flash is that great of an idea, despite its eye candy, it can lag up on older pcs too

about the background color, this dark one for me rocks the house, because of the colors we sometimes put here, gives a great aspect and pleasure to our eyes.
Another thing this black background is soft for our eyes and it's kind relaxing, so Dan i hope this will not change.

About the forum color, well i use the original one Orange, but maybe if more colors could be added i don't know if is possible, but should be great.

Keep the background the way that it is. It is easier on the eyes IMO. Keep the fonts too.

You CAN do like, Dj profiles for everyone to read and check out pics/info on their favorite Djs like where they live, how did they get into Dj'ing, mixing and stuff

Ummmmmm, damn, ummmmm, I guess that everyone else has given you all of the other ideas

all is ok here, the colors are strong but not enought like to hurt eyes, i use the green theme i love it.

i am with the idea that white sucks.

i will vote for the current background color.

also would be nice to see a url for the show thread in the "current playing box" because we like to chat in the forums and would be easier go and post and not have to search the thread first.

also would be cool to add a bar and two maybe four pretty gogo dancers.
hmm maybe this last is out of place.

I too stand in the section of the room with the 'white sucks' placard

I like dark/contrast, but not too dark - white is just eyeballache. Current site is nice and suits the vibe - clubby-dark-music-y

I agree with Magik and think there should be a time slot thing about 'next 5' cos i look, and see someone im interested in, but dont know when its gonna be! I keep bobbing back and forth trying to work out set lengths (OK - Im playing dumb now, since ive now worked out they an hour, but it would be convenient - Magiks idea of a timer is top banana)

In the flash camp - my machine is often....ummm busy in the bandwidth department, so anything that keeps it low when browsing a site it good....so im for some flash, but keep it tasteful...

I also like the idea of reviews and profiles etc.

Id also like to take a mo to say TOP JOB! Great site, great tunes - DJ's you guys & gals are great - my home world of working from home has been transformed since discovering AHFM

(though i believe my neighbours may secretly be plotting for either your doom or the doom of my stereo MWA HA HA!)

keep it up! if the 'new site' is even par for par on the current one, im already happy

White wouldn't be a good idea, for the eyes.
I think the current theme is neutral--perfect.
As far as icons/emotes/animations. Very nice. I especially like the emotes.

blah blah.

As far as I'm concerned, if you want to change something, I'd change the top bar of the site, where the afterhours logo is, change the design there..maybe something a little more..Abstract, or heck, remake the world map so it looks bigger

I really like the "soundwave" effect on the logo though. That's REALLY sick.

I know my post wasn't much help, but I felt I had something to contribute
