I can see what apocalypse_now is saying; all-in-one usually skimps on quality, because nothing is MEANT to be all-in-one.

BUT, in my opinion, if you want to start doing something, and that's what you can afford, you may as well start with that and make sure it's something you are wanting to do as a hobby before dumping a bunch of money on equipment you may decide isn't for you. You can always upgrade... and if you LOVE DOING IT, you'll appreciate the 'better' equipment more.

Just my thoughts

Hi I've had this setup for about a month, actually I have my second one now. not a good advertisement for the product, the first one had a raft of problems but I think mainly cause it was the display model and people would have been smashing the buttons and being pretty rough with it. No problems whatsoever with the new one I was replaced with.
It's def a good machine for a beginner like myself as it is cheap as chips and has some of the handy functions of better gear.

It has no MIDI capabilities, so no you cant use it to control any computer programs.

You can use it's mixer to mix either any audio source with one of the decks or mix two other audio sources, it has swithces to select between the on board decks or ext inputs.
The beat counter is useless but thats col cause you shouldnt be looking to that anyway in my opinion. It's just a guide if you are really lost and need a hint.
It has a loop function but it's not easy to use, you have to be very precise with your timing.

Almost as soon as I got it I realised I was gona want something a little better built but really the level I'm at means anything with any more functions would just be a waste and too confusing at this stage.
Thats what I could afford at the time and considering the nearest competitor (to get a full proper setup) is like 3 times the price and still low end then why not?
I'l buy good gear bit by bit and still have this toy to play with in the mean time and then be qualified to begin on decent stuff.

The toggle switches at the top of the unit need to be pointing to 'cd1' and 'cd2' not 'phono - line'
also the master volume needs to be up and the gain as well
